Biography
- Rev. Dr. John Rodgers,
was
born in 1937 to a large family in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
After moving to Phoenix,
Arizona, he discovered metaphysics and the occult.
He was one
of the first to recognize that the New Age Movement was actually
the beginning of a new, Aquarian Age, faith. Since then,
he has taught the gospel of the New Age in person to
thousands and to many more over the airwaves of radio and TV. Tens
of thousands have experienced his teachings on this website.
Author,
lecturer, philosopher and long-time apologist for the New Age
Movement, he is the founder of the New Age Community Churches, the
Alpha Book Center, the Omega Directory, this New Age
website, the New Age Psychic Massage and the first New Age
seminary program in Arizona.
Dr Rodgers
graduated in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and received his
Doctorate in the late 1960s
Dr. Rodgers is available for private counseling at the
Mother Church in Phoenix. In addition, Dr. Rodgers conducts classes
and a New Age seminary and healing workshops.
Dr. Rodgers receives e-mail at the Mother Church at rodgers@aznewage.com.
Rev. Dr. John Rodgers, was
born in the first half in the last century the oldest of six
children. He was raised in Minneapolis,
Minnesota, much as most other middle-class children were
- he went to public school, attended a Protestant church, played
with the neighbor kids, etc. The only thing different about him
was that he was shy and a bit behind in class. There was no reason
to believe he would turn out any different than any other kids in
the neighborhood. Then, when he was about seven things changed.
The family moved to a new home in a new neighborhood. There was a public
library just half a block away. John's father took him there
and got him a library card and showed him show to check out books.
John discovered books!! He read through all the first grade books,
then all the second grade books, then he began reading ahead of
his class, all the third grade books, fourth grade, fifth grade,
sixth grade and teen-age books. Then he began reading adult books.
His father. was a dabbler and an amateur theologian. From
childhood, young John was surrounded by theological books
and debate, but he was totally unaware of it. When John was about
seven, his father discovered Mormonism
and was converted. He then began a conversion of his family. Young
John loved it. He found the LDS church more fun and exciting than
the Protestant churches he had attended.. At the age of eight he
was baptized a member of the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Shortly thereafter his
mother and siblings joined and John's life was soon wrapped up in
church activities. In those days, the LDS church was a missionary
church, always trying to convert anyone who would listen. This was
something that appealed to the young boy.
A third, and very important change
took place when John was 18. He moved to Phoenix,
Arizona, and the family followed within a year. After being
ordained an Elder
in the church, John then went on a two-year mission for the
church. Elder Rodgers discovered that there were many things to
learn if he was to convert others to the "truth". On his
mission and afterwards, he poured himself into the study
scripture, theology, ancient history and language. Soon the local
church recognized his expertise and installed him as teacher of
all the Elders in the ward. Even the High Priests would sneak into
his class to listen. But eventually Elder Rodgers studies led him
to level of understanding that was contrary to traditional Mormon
doctrine, even though he found it by studying Mormon
scriptures. He was excommunicated from the church. Still
believing the Mormon Church to be the "true" church
Elder Rodgers found it difficult to accept what had happened to
him. But he continued his studies and obtained a Divinity Degree
and was no longer Elder Rodgers but Rev. Dr. Rodgers..
