legal & copyright notice

 About copyrighted documents:

The Internet is filled with unauthorized copies of many copyrighted works, technically in violation of international law. For example, our essay "What is the New Age?"  has been pirated by several well-known web sites.  Laws generally allow a person to quote text from works copyrighted by others as long as the quotation is sufficiently short. We have seen 400 and 500 words as commonly used upper limits on size, beyond which permission to duplicate from the owner of the copyright should be sought.

Our use of copyrighted material - Fair use notice:

We often use copyrighted material in our web site's essays. This use may not have been specifically authorized by the copyright owner. Such material is made available on a no-charge basis for educational and discussion purposes only. We believe this constitutes a 'fair use' of any such copyrighted material as provided for in U.S. federal law17 USC § 107. (We cite U.S. law because over 90% of our site visitors are from the U.S.)
