Idolatry

You have heard the televangelists preaching "God is punishing America for its homosexuality".

I say unto you, They are wrong.  God is not punishing America for its homosexuality, but for its idolatry.

Idolatry is worshipping gods that are manufactured, created, gods that are not real.

America is guilty of idolatry, of worshipping a god that is not real.

America, as a nation, worships a god that is not real - the false trinity.  The True Trinity is real enough, but America does not worship the true Trinity, but a false one. The trinity they worship is false because it is composed of truth and falsehood blended together. It is not real because it was created by man.  It is false because it includes a fantasy. This fantasy is that God (or a part of God) came down to Earth as a mortal and then died on the cross and was resurrected - all to atone for the sins of mankind.

The whole thing is a fantasy.  If God could become his own Son and die as a mortal, why couldn't he just forgive all the sins of man in the first place?  It is  all just insane.  And thus, we may say that God is punishing America for the idolatry of believing in such an insane trinity.

Actually God is not punishing us.  We are punishing ourselves. Let me explain.  Why do we believe in the false Trinity? Because everyone else does, or at least those who count.

In ancient Israel, why did they turn to the worship of idols? Because everyone else did, or at least those who counted.  God did not punish them for this idolatry and he is not punishing us for the same kind of idolatry.  We are punishing ourselves. When we place the opinion of others above our own rational thinking, when we respect political correctness more than our own self-respect, when we permit ourselves to be coerced into worshipping some insanity that we do not understand just because it is the thing to do - when we do these things, we do them not only in the arena of religion and spirituality, but also in the other avenues of our public life.  And that type of thinking can only lead to the destruction of our nation. When we pursue public acceptance over self-respect, the nation must fail. We are being punished for the sin of idolatry, but God is not punishing us. We are doing it to ourselves.

Pass a law, DON'T create a bureaucracy

If something is wrong, or something needs to be done, then pass a law. Don't create a bureaucracy. For example: EPA, Homeland Security. When the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was created - December 1970 - American had a serious problem with uncontrolled pollution. Now, after 38 years, America has a serious problem with controlled pollution. We still have smog over our cities. Smog that is killing dozens of Phoenicians every year. And that's in a city that has reasonably clear skies as compared to the other largest American cities. Why do we still have smog? Because the problem was turned over to a federal bureaucracy instead of letting the American people take care of it.  If they had passed a law that anyone producing more than X amount of pollution was in violation of the law with a criminal penalty - millions of Americans would have gone active and criminal and civil lawsuits would have been filed and things would have happened. Instead it was put into the hands of federal bureaucrats who are often in the pockets of big business and very little has happened. After an entire generation of EPA we still have too much smog and pollution.  And do I need to say anything about the ineptitude of Homeland Security? A generation of Homeland Security and American will have gone the way of the Chinese empire.

Death . . .

. This month I am going to be speaking at the New Age Community Church, Sunday May 18. My topic will be Death. In this country death is totally denied. We don't say that a person has died, but rather that he has "passed on", or some other death-denying euphemism.  We deny death, because we don't understand it. It is a mystery, a scary mystery.  In my talk I hope to clarify what death it, how it works, and what follows it.

. .  and Taxes

All good citizens finished paying their taxes last night.  My, how federal income tax has changed since it was first instituted in 1913.  At that time the tax rate was just 1% up to $20,000 and 7% up to $500,000 and ten percent or something like that over $500,000. That is a fair rate, especially if you realize that when federal income tax was initiated, the definition of income excluded salaries and wages.

Lets return to those golden years.  Remember, no exemptions or discounts.  1% on everything up to $20,000, 7% on everything over $20,000, and 10% on everything over $500,000. Corporations should not pay income tax. (They don't actually pay it anyway, they just pass it on to us in the price of their products or services)  We should finalize this by ruling that corporations are not "persons" in any legal sense, but are only financial instruments.

Socialism CAN work

The latest news is that the Cuban government is allowing all its citizens to own cell phones.  They were forbidden before (though, of course, thousands managed to get one anyway). Under the socialized Cuban state, the government controls 90% of the economy. BUT citizens have free, housing, education and health care. They get ration cards that cover basic food items.  People argue that the average monthly income is only $20.  I ask you, how much do you have left each month after all the bills and medical and food have been paid? So, it does work, you see. Would socialism work here in the U.S.? Absolutely not!! Because there are only 9 million people in Cuba, but there are nearly 300 million here. You can govern a small group of people much easier and more justly, and with less turmoil, then you can govern a large nation.  That is what is wrong with the U.S. They are stupidly trying to govern the entire nation from Washington.  That is too many people. Let each state do the governing, and let Washington just oversee to make sure corruption does get in on the state level. That's the way the Constitution organized it. To sum it up, Socialism CANNOT work as a U.S. federal program.

Never before

To my knowledge, never before has the U.S. experienced both a war AND a depression (today they are called recessions - same thing). Why are we experiencing a recession in the midst of a war? Because Bush is an idiot.  We shouldn't be surprised. We knew he was an idiot from the beginning.  What has he done to put us in this position.  We have never had a recession during a war because, during other wars, the government passed a War Tax to pay for the war. President Bush did not want to tax his rich friends, so there was no War Tax. Ergo: we are up to our ears in debt, which is throwing the economy in to a mess.  Thank you, President Bush.

Institutionalized bigotry

On St. Patrick's Day a special prayer was recited in all the St. Joseph Medical Centers througout the Southwest (and in thousands of other Catholic Centers)

Protect me. . . .from snares of devils. . .

I summon today all these powers between me and those evils.

Against every cruel merciless power that oppose my body and soul,

Against incantations of false prophets,

Against black laws of pagandom,

Against false laws of heretics,

Against craft of idolatry,

Against spells of witches and smiths and wizards,

Against every knowledge that corrupts man's body and soul.

To that I respond, Lord, protect me from the Catholic Church!

Life on other planets

I have just been in communication with a couple of mediums who put me in contact with someone who claimed to be an alien from another planet.  He claimed to be from 500 light years beyond the other side of the galaxy. He also said we (the humans) are the only sentient life form in this galaxy. With millions of planets in this galaxy, we are the only one that has sentient life? That's hard to believe.  How wasteful. The entire galaxy of millions of stars and millions of planets just to produce one planet of humans? But think about it. God is wasteful. Mother Nature is wasteful. Millions of sperm are sent forth and, at best only one will produce a being. And that being may not make it to birth. With that thought in mind, maybe only one intelligent life form develops in each galaxy -- and maybe some have no intelligent life forms at all. How depressing. In other words, it will be at least a thousand years or more before we run across another life form.

Iraqi Christians

Did you know that there are over half a million Christians in Iraq.  There used to be more, but since the war their numbers have dropped.  No by conversion, but by death.

What's the difference?

I've been following politics since before I could vote. But it occurred to me that many of you have not been following politics, or that politics seems just a lot of nonsense, or madness. Yes, it is nonsense and madness, but that is only because we have let the politicians run wild for too long.

It is time to reign them in. And to this end, I am going to try to make some kind of sense out of it for you.

First there are three or four levels of politics.

First: There is the city, county level. These are the people who run the schools, pass the traffic ordinances and the zoning laws. They operate the local courts and the jails. These people have a big impact on our daily lives. But most people pay little attention to these offices, so just a few votes can get you elected.

Second: The state level.  This is the governor, the state legislature, and hundreds of bureaucrats busy passing rules and regulations to louse up your life. These are pretty good-paying jobs so many people try to get elected or appointed to this level.  At this level, you have a lot of power, and yet most people are not aware of your existence.

Third: The federal level. The President, the Vice President, the Senate and the House of Representatives are the elected offices. Everyone else is appointed.- and there are thousands of them.

Now to politics. There are, for practical purposes, two political parties.  What is a political party? It is a bunch of people who have agreed to work together to get each other elected to a good-paying federal job. They have passed a bunch of laws that makes it easy for them to get money and almost impossible for any other political party to get started.

What is the difference between the two political parties? Not too much.  Their philosophies change through the decades, but today the Republicans are "conservative" and the Democrats are "liberal".

Do not pay too much attention to those two terms because they describe very few members of their parties. As a rule the Republicans support the very rich and pass legislation that enables the very rich to get even richer. They are generally opposed to government controls.  The Democrats are for the "working man" whom they try to help by passing welfare legislation and by giving privileges to the various groups that are associated with the "poor".

As an example: social security was established as a insurance program for people when they retire or can no longer work..  The Republicans treat it as an investment program, and the Democrats as a welfare plan. They both are wrong. The proper use of social security should be as insurance, [when it is needed]. If you have not paid in, you should not collect. If you are not in need you should not apply. IT is not a reward for reaching 65. It is insurance.

Back to the two parties. The Democrats want to pass laws to protect the workers. The Republicans claim that everyone benefits if the rich get richer.

The Democrats protected the workers too much, to the debility of the industries they worked for. If the industry fails, there are no jobs.

The Republicans say its alright to ship factories overseas where they can make more profits. According to the trickle-down theory, their profits benefit everyone.  Tell that to the people making minimum wages.

I give up.  It's too hard to explain politics.  You'll have to take a course or something.

Word from the "Other Side

On a whim, during a quiet period between her sessions, I asked Christina Wolf, Phoenix's number one medium, to contact Dr. Christopher Hyatt. You don't want to contact the dead for several days after their death, because they need time to adjust and acclimate. It had been several weeks, so it was okay

After Ms. Wolf made contact, which only took a moment, I introduced myself to Dr. Hyatt:

Me: Hello, Dr. Hyatt, I am Dr. John from the Alpha Book Center. We have met a couple of times.

Hyatt: Yes, I remember.

Me. I'd like to ask you a few questions. Is that okay?

Hyatt: Yes, go ahead.

Me: What's it like being dead?

Hyatt: It's the most amazing experience you can ever have. No pain. No grief,  No worries. You're prosperous because you have everything that you ever need come to you at the slightest beck and call."

Me: Were there any surprises when you found yourself dead?

Hyatt: I didn't have much worries or inhibitions. I see things more clearly. Things here are more mental than physical, which is intriguing because I can analyze things more. There are people here; who have the same mental capacity as I. It's riches beyond your wildest dreams. Technology is stunted by the power of spirituality. It cannot compare in speed.

Me: Do you have any words for your students?

Hyatt: Forget about everything I taught you. It's totally different on the "other side". Re-think everything. Life is your journey but death is your destination."

Hitler in Hell

After talking with Christopher Hyatt through Christina Wolf, I was emboldened enought to shoot for a biggie. I asked Ms. Wolf to contact Hitler.  She was a bit averse, but she tried.  She was told that he could not talk to her because he was in "hell".  We enquired further and talked to Eva Braun. who seemed like a nice person. She said that she had been taking care of Hitler since their deaths. "Looking over him, she said. She said that he was in flames - in his own private hell. Reliving the moments before his death over and over again.  She said that no one could reach him.  He was insane before he died and he was insane afterwards.  She said that his consciousness was in a sort of closed loop and that he was aware of nothing but his own thoughts. That he was in torment and no one could reach him. So apparently he is in hell (of sorts) as so many people have hoped.

After this we tried to reach a number of historical notables. Several were "out of town" and not available, others were available, but it turned out they were fakes. We checked them out using historical questions that they should have been able to answer. They couldn't. Or their answers were revealed their abysmal ignorance of the time in which they were supposed to have lived. We were easily able to contact someone who knew Jesus and others, but they proved to be fakers.  We read books written by

people who channeled this great spiritual being or that.  The odds are the spirit was a faker.  They are as thick as thieves on the other side.

Recession

We now know that we are in a recession.  How? Because the other day President Bush got on the air and said that he believed we were NOT in a recession.

Cheer up!

Facts change opinions

Years ago, I called noted author Manley P. Hall to ask  him about his book Secret Teachings of All Ages.  It contained a quotation by Voltaire about Plato. Hall had written the book over 75 years before so I was not too surprised when his secretary said he could not remember from where he got the quotation.

But this was not the end!

Every Saturday the fabulous medium, Christina Wolf, was in the store, so I asked her to contact Hall, who has since died, hoping that death had improved his memory.

She made contact and, once Hall had confirmed that I had contacted him while living, he probed his memories and still could not recall the source.

I expressed my disappointment, and he suggested, “Why not ask Voltaire?”

Ms. Wolf put her powers to work again and made contact with Voltaire (who apparently speaks English, but with an accent.) He probed his memory about the Plato quotation. He said it wrote it about 1746-48 went he wrote a lot of things about Plato.

He went on to say that he had “stretched Plato’s writing” to support Voltaire’s own beliefs, believing that Plato also had a deep understanding of spiritual things even beyond what he had written. He said had always admired the ancient Greek philosopher, that he much esteemed this man that and thought he had a great mind, until . . . .

“Until what?” I asked.

“Until I met him!”

Be prepared

Speaking about dead people, there is a fascinating website out there—http://www.deathclock.com/ - that tells you the date you are going to die.  They have hooked up a lot of statistics and mortality figures, and combined them all together. All you have to do is fill out a few bits of information, birth date, height and weight, whether you smoke or not, etc.

I filled it out and found out I am going to live ten years more than I had figured on.  Now I’ll have time to complete some of the projects I have around the house.

Americans do not understand the Constitution

Americans do not understand the hows and whys of our Constitution. They do not understand why the senate was established, nor do they understand about “laws respecting the establishment of religion.”

The Senate was established to protect the rights of the states. When power was taken away from the states in 1913, it began a degeneration that brought us to this present condition of national chaos.

Religious organizations were not protected because the founders of this nation thought they were good and necessary, but because they had power and that power had to be recognized.

We have no need for the special protection of religious organizations—as long as we have complete protection of freedom of speech and freedom of public assembly.

Who's drugs are the illegal ones

On page three of the Omega Directory, we tell the story of how the largest medical group in the U.S. is urging the U.S. government to allow the  medical use of marijuana. There is no more authoritative medical group in the country. But will the government ease up on marijuana?  No way!! 12 states already have laws allowing the use of marijuana for medical purposes but the federal government of undermining those state laws by having Drug Enforcement Administration agents raid medical marijuana providers.

The federal government does not care what is right or wrong. The federal government does no care about what is good for its citizens. The federal government only cares about what is good for its bureaucrats.

I think it is time for another revolution.

Speaking of revolutions

A government long established should not be changed for light or transient causes. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same goal—to reduce them under absolute dictatorship, then it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards against that happening again.

Here are a few abuses of the federal government:

It has refused to secure the borders of this nation.

It has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent swarms of officers to harass us, and to deprive us, in many cases. of the benefits of trial by jury.

It has tried to render these new offices independent of and superior to all other civil power, state and local.

It has quartered large bodies of armed troops throughout the world.

And, it is believed, it is at this time training large armies to complete the works of tyranny, already begun with circumstances of deception. The president himself has been reported to have referred to the Constitution as nothing but “a piece of paper.”

Soon, if there is no revolution, we will find ourselves in the same condition as those Soviet citizens  under Communism.

(with apologies to the U.S. Declaration of Independence)

This commercial gets my goat

Different TV commercials affect individuals in different ways. One TV spot that really gets my goat is “Free Credit Report”. It riles me on several levels.

First—It’s not free.  You have to sign up for a service for which you pay before you get the so-called “free” credit report.

Second—The credit report is of little use to most people, but they make it sound like it’s a great deal. It will let you know if someone is tapping your financial resources. But they don’t reveal that you can’t learn about the theft until after the fact!!

Third — They show a commercials in which a young. man ended up with a cheap car instead of the neat SUV he wanted. They imply it wouldn’t have happened if he had had their free credit report.  That is a lie. Whether he knew what his credit rating was or not, he still would not have been able to buy a better car.

And people fall for this.  The commercials are still running which tells me they are working.  People are spending their hard-earned money for garbage.  So what’s new!

Eye trouble

The little boy was told by his mother that if he kept playing with himself, he would go blind. His response was, "Okay, I'll just keep doing it until I need glasses.

And as a public service, here's a chart for him to check out his eyes with.  Feel free to test your own visual with the it.
